Convenient care for kids during the school year

The YMCA of Honolulu offers before- and after-school programs at participating elementary and middle schools across Oʻahu, providing children with a safe, supportive environment to learn, play, and connect before and after the school day.

Our caring staff undergo required background checks and fingerprinting and receive training in CPR, first aid, and child safety.

Before-School Program (BSP)

Start the school day with the Y! Our Before-School Program (BSP) offers supervised activities before staff walk children to class. Program hours vary by school, with some locations opening as early as 5:30 am. Programs operate until the first school bell, Monday through Friday on scheduled school days.

Program fees vary according to each school's calendar. Programs are offered based on minimum enrollment requirements.

After-School Program (ASP)

After the school day ends, the YMCA's After-School Program (ASP) provides a safe, supervised environment where students can get homework help, enjoy a snack, and participate in enrichment activities such as cooking, gardening, Kidz Lit, and dance.

Registration is open for 2026–2027 at:

  • Kamehameha Schools – Na Pua Lei (monthly plan or $15/day drop-in)
  • Kauluwela Elementary (21CCLC)
  • Pauoa Elementary (21CCLC)
  • Kawananakoa Middle (21CCLC)
  • Stevenson Middle (21CCLC)

A+ After-School Program

The YMCA of Honolulu partners with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education to provide the A+ After-School Program at participating public elementary schools across Oʻahu. A+ provides a safe, nurturing environment where children can complete homework, participate in enrichment activities, and stay active after the school day.

What's the difference between the A+ Program and the Y's After-School Program (ASP)?
